There is dangerous flooding being reported throughout New Jersey. It takes just 6 inches of moving water can knock you down, 12 inches of flowing water to carry off a small car; 18-24 inches for larger vehicles.

More than half of the deaths from flooding each year occur in vehicles.

Be prepared to take action if a flash flood warning is issued for your area!

Here are a few tips to stay safe:

Never try to walk, bike or drive through flooded areas. Water may be deeper than you think!

Do not attempt to drive over a flooded road. Obey traffic barriers. STOP! Turn around and go another way.

Keep children from playing in floodwaters or near culverts and storm drains.
