DISTRICT 1 STRUCTURE FIRE

At 1137 hours district three was alerted to respond to District 1 for a structure fire at 1665 Amwell Rd. Engine 278s crew of Chief Krushinski Ex-Chiefs Braido amp Wade and FF Wolman arrived and were assigned as the FASTeam. They were staged on the Alpha side along with Operations Scheer. The fire quickly went to a third alarm which brought an additional FASTeam. Three lines were used to control the fire which consumed most of the first floor. The engine from 44 was first due they forced entry and stretched a pre-connect to the first floor. The fire inspectors were second due and pulled a back-up line. The engine from 56 was third due and pulled the third line. Rescue 56 was assigned to search. Once the engine from 30 arrived they were put to work as the FASTeam which put Engine 278 to work in the attic locating any hidden fire. The crews from Engine 261 Rescue 56 and Engine 278 worked to extinguish the fire found in the walls going from the second floor to the attic. Ladder 23 was the first due truck and was assigned to roof ventilation as well as checking for extension in the attic. 44A Gupta did an excellent job as the IC which brought the fire under control within 30 minutes. Companies on scene included Somerset 56 Middlebush 44 Elizabeth Ave. 26 Millstone Valley 28 East Franklin 27 South Bound Brook 55 Finderne 30 Bound Brook 23 and Franklin Township Fire Inspectors.
