Dogs Life Saved from Apartment Fire

At 1907 today Fire District 3 was dispatched for smoke coming from 464 Hamilton St Apt C. Car 25 arrived and reported a working fire at the address. Engine 253 was first due and stretched a attack line to the apartment. Ladder 27 was directly behind them and the crew forced the door to the apartment and started a primary search of the Fire apartment.

Chief 25 requested a second alarm, Box 25. Chief 27 arrived and took over interior with the crew from Ladder 27 and Engine 253. The chauffeur of Ladder 27 hand jacked a supply line for Engine 253 and put the stick up to the roof.

While conducting the search Lieutenant Latanzio located a golden retriever behind the couch. The dog was quickly removed and Foreman Marquez and Lieutenant Latanzio started life saving measures and was able to revive the dog with the help of the pet mask from New Brunswick Engine 5.

The fire was held to the kitchen area of the Apartment and the rest had heat and smoke damage. Units on scene were Squad 27, Engine 272, Car 272, Car 273, Car 252 & Ladder 25. Rescue 56 was the RIC on scene. Other units on scene were Eng 441, Ladder 26, Sq-23, Truck 3 and Engine 35.
