Franklin Boulevard Fire

At 2:00 PM today, Fire District 3 was dispatched to the area of Franklin Boulevard and Matilda Avenue for smoke coming from the roof. While enroute, Car 27 was advised by County that Patrol reports a working fire. A first alarm was transmitted and a re-tone of District 3 as requested by Car 27. Ladder 27 arrived and Captain 27-1 reported heavy smoke showing and requested a second alarm. Car 27 arrived and assumed Command of 423 Franklin Boulevard. The crew from Ladder 27 forced entry and stretched a hand line to the second floor. Heavy fire was venting out the C side and the crew made a push on the fire. Engine 253 hand laid a supply line to Ladder 27. New Brunswick Engine 1 assisted in search of the fire apartment and Ladder 1 went to the roof to open the gable vents and check the roof. The fire was quickly knocked down by the first arriving companies. Rescue 56 was the RIC on scene, Bound Brook Squad 23 and North Brunswick Truck 3 assisted with overhaul of the fire room. Other units on scene were Engine 272, Utility 27, Car 273, Car 25, Deputy 25, and Engine 251. Thank you to River Road, Griggstown and Finderne for covering District 3.
