29 members from East Franklin FD turned out Wednesday morning to attend Deputy Chief James Dherons Funeral services at St. Peters church in New Brunswick. The strong showing of support for the departed Chief his family and the New Brunswick Fire Department was the culmination of many days of hard work. On Sunday afternoon members from East Franklin including neighboring fire departments Somerset Hillsborough Millstone Valley and Elizabeth Avenue met at Station 27 to wash wax and detail New Brunswicks Car 21 Engine 1 and Ladder 1 so they would be ready for the procession to honor Chief Dheron on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday morning four East Franklin members brought Engine 274 into New Brunswick to staff Engine 5s quarters from 0600 hours to 1800 hours where they responded to two alarms. That evening after attending the wake at St. Peters Church EFFD members again with assistance from several area departments changed out of their dress uniforms put their work clothes back on and set up tents chairs and tables for the reception in Buccleuch Park the following morning.
