Highland Park Structure Fire

On Tuesday February 8 at approximately 2000 hrs., Station 27 was requested into Highland Park for the second alarm on arrival fire in an apartment building in the 500 block of Benner St. The duty crew split and responded with Squad 27 and Ladder 27 as well as Car 27. On arrival, Highland Park had an initial line stretched with fire showing out of the 2nd division which was the 3rd division to the rear. Chief 27 assumed Operations and the crews from both The Squad and Ladder, as well as New Brunswick, went interior with additional lines. Ladder 27 landed the roof while a crew from New Brunswick took the roof division and stood by to vent if necessary. The interior crews were able to make a significant knock on the fire and keep it contained to the original apartment with moderate extension to an adjoining apartment. Additional resources from Edison and New Brunswick were also on scene for Highland Parks second structure fire in as many days. Once overhaul was completed, the crews from EFFD assisted HP repacking their LDH and all units were clear at approximately 2200 hours. The EFFD takes pride in the relationships we have established with our surrounding towns and being able to be of assistance when the situations dictate.
