OVEN FIRE ON DOUGLAS AVE

On what had shaped up to be an already full day at the firehouse for many of our active members District 3 was dispatched to the report of an oven fire on Douglas Avenue at approximately 1515 hours. With a full crew already at the station Engine 272 called in service with seven firefighters. Station 25 a stones throw from the house in question responded with an Engine and was first due. Engine 272 arrived shortly after Engine 253 to find smoke pushing from the Alpha side of the structure. Engine 272s can-man 2nd Asst Chief Skinner and the Irons man Foreman Glover took on the squad company duties of locating and holding the fire with the can. Engine 253 encountered water problems so the remaining crew from Engine 272 stretched a line to the front door while Engine 253 checked for extension in the basement and Ladder 25 set up a PPV fan at the front door. 27A Chief Krushinski had command.
