SMALL KITCHEN FIRE ON THE BOULEVARD

At 1400 hours just as snow was starting to fall Fire District 3 was dispatched for an apartment fire on Franklin Boulevard with possible entrapment. Chief Krushinski arrived at the garden apartments and established command within minutes of the initial dispatch. His initial size up found smoke showing from the apartment and negative entrapment. Members of Franklin Fire Prevention 908 units responded directly to the scene as well. Engine 278 arrived and with the help of the 908 battalion stretched a pre-connected 1-34 line into the apartment finding a small fire in the kitchen oven which was extinguished quickly. Engine 251 assisted with ventilation and checking for extension upon their arrival shortly after Engine 278. Additional units responded for manpower including one engine from New Brunswick Fire Department. A total of 13 members from East Franklin were present at the call and units cleared the scene by 1445 hours.
