Structure Fire Baier Avenue

At 1:29 PM on Wednesday, July 13th, Fire District 3 was dispatched to 45 Baier Avenue for smoke coming from the house by a passerby and possible entrapment. Car 27 called in service and requested a first alarm. Ladder 27 arrived and confirmed smoke showing from the house and Assistant Chief 27 upgraded the assignment to a working fire. A second alarm was struck for the incident. Captain 27-1 assumed command. When Engine 253 arrived, the crew from Ladder 27 and Engine 253 took a hand line off of E-253 and made their way into the dwelling through the front door. Engine 253 established a permanent water source for the fire.
Engine 272 arrived as well as Ladder 25 and the two crews assisted in search of the building with a primary search. Car 27 arrived and assumed Fire Command. Squad 27 arrived and assisted the crew in the basement. The fire was knocked down and the crews from New Brunswick Ladder 2, Engine 15, and North Brunswick Engine 3 assist with a secondary search and ventilation of the fire building. It was confirmed there was no entrapment, the homeowner was not in the home. Other units on scene were Car 274, Car 252 and RWJH BLS Units. One firefighter was injured after falling down the steps in the house. Thank you Station 23, Station 28, and Station 30 for covering Fire District 3 and handling our other call. The fire is being investigated by Franklin Township Fire Prevention.
