At 02:32 this morning, Fire District 3 was alerted to a report of wires down at Route 27 and Veronica Ave.

Car 27 arrived and located a one car MVA with live wires down in front of 84 Veronica Ave. The driver of the car reported that he fell asleep and woke up after he hit the pole. He was transported for minor injuries.

Due to the live wires down with the transformers leaking oil and wires burning, PSEG and Somerset County Haz-Mat were requested to the scene ASAP. Due to the hazardous conditions the Fire Department stood by until PSEG secured the electric in the area so the vehicle could be removed and a contractor was called for the oil from the transformers.

Units cleared up at 6:30 AM and the roadway was still closed. Units on scene were Car 27, Car 273, Engine 272, Ladder 27, Squad 27, Cars 25 and 252, R25 and Engine 253.
